Project Overview
The South Australian Government introduced charging for electricity for residents in community housing in the APY Lands, Yalata and Oak Valley starting July 2022.
MoneyMob Talkabout was engaged by the Remote Area Energy Supply (RAES) scheme, part of the Department for Energy and Mining, to develop and implement a community education and engagement program to ensure communities were ready for the introduction of electricity charging.
The Pawa Atunmankunytjaku Project provided a house-to-house education program to all households in the lead-up to the installation of smart meters and charging for electricity.
The Department of Energy and Mining has extended the engagement of Money Mob Talkabout for 2023-2024, to continue their support of householders in the APY Lands with energy efficiency and meter education. This support is being delivered by our Home Energy Support Worker and Anangu Energy Education Workers.
