Power Charging Begins in Indulkana

Feb 20, 2023 | Pawa Atunmankunytjaku

Indulkana community began paying for power on Tuesday 14 February 2023.

The Pawa Atunmankunytjaku team spent a whole week in the community to help with the transition.

On Monday, we visited every house in the community to drop off their meter cards and welcome packs, collect contact details and stick information stickers in the meter boxes.

Unlike other communities, Indulkana residents must top up at the PY Ku, not the shop.

We spent the remainder of the week with a stall outside the PY Ku and assisted community members as they got used to the changes. After topping up at the PY Ku, we accompanied people back to their house to show them how to check that the credit had been added to their meter.

On Thursday, we held a community BBQ to say thank you. It was 43 degrees that day and incredibly hot behind the BBQ!

The Indulkana EEWs did a fantastic job that week conveying the paying for power message to community members.

The team will be back out to Indulkana in a couple of weeks to check in on how Anangu are adjusting to the changes.
