Smart Meter Installations Begin

Mar 4, 2021 | Pawa Atunmankunytjaku

Cowell Electric are installing new Smart Meters for the SA Government on all houses, businesses and other buildings in the APY Lands, Yalata and Oak Valley. Installations will begin in March 2021. Notices with scheduled installation dates have been posted in each community.

The power will go out on each house and building for about 2 hours while the new meter is being installed.

New Smart Meters are being installed to replace the old meters which are old and not working well anymore.

Smart Meters can send information through the mobile networks, so they don’t need to be read by a meter reader anymore.

Please note: charging for electricity for Housing SA properties is due to start from 1 July 2021. It will not start when the meter is installed.

If you have any questions or would like more information about Smart Meters, please contact Cowell Electric on 1800 805 020 or [email protected].  You can also email SA Government at [email protected].
