Power Charging Begins in Mimili

Power charging began in Mimili Community on Tuesday 19 July 2022. Each household was issued with a welcome pack. This included two smart meter cards and other education materials for people to top up their power.

On Monday, our star Energy Education Worker Ruffie helped to put the stickers in the meter boxes and complete surveys.

On Tuesday, we set up a stall to assist community members by showing people how to top up their meters using the smart meter cards.

For the rest of the week, we went around the community, checking in on households to see how they were going with the changes. We showed people how to check their balances on their smart meters.

On Thursday we put on a barbecue to thank the community for their patience and support during the first days of paid power. As you can see in the photo, I also made plenty of furry friends at the barbecue.

It was good to see many people got the hang of it very quickly. Community members were only too happy to help each other when learning about how to activate the smart meter once the meter card was topped up at the shop.

Some Anangu set up a Centrepay deduction to help them manage the cost of power.

Next month’s visit in August will see the team return to support Anangu and answer any questions that they may have. We will also assist people to set up Centrepay deductions.
