Community Engagement – Oak Valley and Yalata

Mar 2, 2021 | Pawa Atunmankunytjaku

At the beginning of the year, we made our first trip to Oak Valley to introduce the project to the community. This was MoneyMob’s first time visiting the Oak Valley community. We met with the Oak Valley Council to discuss the project, answer questions and address concerns. We also sought feedback on our plan to engage with the community. After the meeting, we put on a BBQ dinner for the community at the youth centre and chatted with residents about the upcoming changes and employment opportunities.

We also presented at the Yalata Council meeting in February.

We are working with Eyre Plus who are assisting us in promoting the jobs we have available in the communities.

We’re looking forward to our next trip to both of these communities and to getting to know them better.

Money Mob recently partnered with the Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) to deliver information sessions to aged care residents in Atitjere, Ti Tree, Wilora, Willowra, Laramba, Yuelamu and Lajamanu.

Alongside the residents, staff and carers had a chance to learn skills in financial literacy, saving goals, debt, financial abuse, humbug and making informed decisions when spending.

We provide practical financial literacy training services for individuals to gain confidence and competence in essential financial life skills.
