Pawa Team visits Yalata

Oct 1, 2021 | Pawa Atunmankunytjaku

In late September, Lisa, Nick and Carolyn made the trip down to Yalata to meet with the Council and community to discuss the upcoming changes.

It was great to also be joined by MoneyMob Chairperson Sandra Marty who was in the community at the time!

After meeting with the Yalata Council, we held a community BBQ and set up a stall with the smart meter and education materials on display. We also handed out our “Uwankara Patinma!” pannikins to the community.

We spent the next couple of days in Yalata continuing to engage with the community and service providers.

Lisa spoke to people about the Energy Education Worker positions we have available and the upcoming training planned for November.

We received a number of expressions of interest from community members who are keen to become Energy Education Workers in Yalata.

We are looking forward to heading back to Yalata very soon to begin training and start on the first round of home visits to inform the community of the upcoming changes.

While down on the coast, we were lucky enough to see some whales at the Head of the Bight. A bit of a contrast to the scenery of Central Australia!

Money Mob recently partnered with the Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) to deliver information sessions to aged care residents in Atitjere, Ti Tree, Wilora, Willowra, Laramba, Yuelamu and Lajamanu.

Alongside the residents, staff and carers had a chance to learn skills in financial literacy, saving goals, debt, financial abuse, humbug and making informed decisions when spending.

We provide practical financial literacy training services for individuals to gain confidence and competence in essential financial life skills.
