This week Melissa Heywood and Leanne Burns from our project partner Uniting Communities SA, visited Alice Springs to provide the Pawa Atunmankunytjaku team with “train the trainer, training” in Energy Efficiency and Household assessments.

An intense and productive week was had by all at the Desert Knowledge Australia facilities in Alice Springs; All in preparation for the upcoming training weeks of 30+ Anangu Energy Education Workers at Umuwa in March.

We covered all aspects of Energy Efficiency including best practice in:

  • Household energy auditing
  • Working with vulnerable households/individuals
  • South Australian energy hardship programs, concessions and grants.
  • APY Lands local energy context, challenges and ways forward for energy sustainability.

We look forward to continue working with the experienced team from Uniting Communities SA who have been assisting low income and vulnerable communities grapple with their energy bills across South Australia for many, many years.

Money Mob recently partnered with the Central Desert Regional Council (CDRC) to deliver information sessions to aged care residents in Atitjere, Ti Tree, Wilora, Willowra, Laramba, Yuelamu and Lajamanu.

Alongside the residents, staff and carers had a chance to learn skills in financial literacy, saving goals, debt, financial abuse, humbug and making informed decisions when spending.

We provide practical financial literacy training services for individuals to gain confidence and competence in essential financial life skills.
